Guide: Centella (Cica)

What centella asiatica does in skincare

The tiger grass extract (INCI: Centella Asiatica Extract) contains triterpenes such as madecassoside and asiaticoside. In cosmetic concentrations it calms irritated skin, supports the skin barrier and helps the complexion settle after sun, acids or retinol. It is mild and used in Korea for all skin types, including very sensitive ones.

Centella products by routine step

  • Toner: SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Toning Toner as a soothing first layer.
  • Ampoule or serum: SKIN1004 Centella Ampoule with a 100 % centella extract base.
  • Cream: Dr. Althea 345 Relief Cream or SKIN1004 Soothing Cream as the final step.
  • Sunscreen: Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum combines cica with a light SPF 50+.

Combinations

Centella gets along with practically all actives and is the ideal partner to BHA, retinol and vitamin C because it cushions their irritation potential. Together with ceramides it is the basis of every barrier routine.
