Snail mucin, the snail secretion filtrate, is one of the best-known ingredients in Korean skincare: it hydrates, supports a supple, rested complexion and fits almost any routine. The COSRX Snail Mucin 96% Power Repairing Essence is the classic; find essences, serums and creams with snail mucin here.
Snail mucin (INCI: Snail Secretion Filtrate) is released by garden snails at rest and filtered; the animals are not harmed in the process. The secretion contains glycoproteins, hyaluronic acid, glycolic acid and allantoin. Cosmetically it hydrates, soothes and gives a supple, plump skin surface. It is not a miracle cure, but a well-tolerated hydrator for almost all skin types.
